In 1938, Adolf Hitler, the Nazi monster, allows Jewish children to evacuate Germany on the Kindertransport - trains headed to England - without their parents. Peter, a shy violin player, and his friends, take the train to safety, but after Peter’s English farm house in Coventry is bombed in the Blitz, he returns to Germany to join the Jewish Rebels in the Resistance, where he plans to sabotage the Nazis, search for his family, and his best friend Eva, left behind.

Escape on the Kindertransport

In The Children’s Train Peter reads A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and sees the parallel from the story of oppression and revolution to his own life. I admire the power of Charles Dickens to weave his story with adventure and emotion that created real social change from his books like Oliver Twist that exposed the plight of the poor.

The Children's Train

The incredible story of the Kindertransport children and the families left behind, may be one of the greatest stories of all time. The evil that forced the unthinkable separation of children from their parents, the goodness of the mothers and fathers who gave up everything so that their children could live, and the kindness of England to take these children into their homes is unparalleled. Since the moment I heard their historic tale, they have not left my mind. The Kindertransport children came to live in my conscience and would not leave until I told their story.
